Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to launch later this year, and reports confirms its availability on last-gen consoles. The game will be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, alongside current-gen consoles and PC. This news follows recent pre-order listings at GameStop, which included SKUs for both PS4 and PS5.
Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming reported that the image of GameStop’s listing is legitimate. It confirms that Black Ops 6 will indeed be available for older consoles. Although there isn’t a separate SKU for Xbox One, the Xbox Series S|X version will be cross-gen, compatible with the older Xbox One.
This follows last year’s release pattern of Modern Warfare 3, which also launched on last-gen consoles. Initially, it was thought to be the last Call of Duty game on these platforms. However, the consistent use of the same engine allows the continuation of support for older hardware.
Black Ops 6 is expected to release in late October 2024. Insider Gaming hints at an October 25 launch date, based on past release patterns. More information will be revealed during a special broadcast following Microsoft’s Xbox Showcase on June 9.
Fans are eagerly awaiting more details about the game, which is expected to deliver the high-quality experience that the Black Ops series is known for. Stay tuned for updates as we approach the game’s release.
