Warhammer 40,000: Darktide entered the fray nearly a year ago and while it had a decent showing at launch, the available content and underdeveloped systems haven’t been able to maintain consistent interest over the months. Steam Charts paints a grim picture presenting the fact that Fatshark’s co-op shooter-slasher has seen an incredibly small fraction of its once 100,000+ peak player count stick around.
While it hasn’t been easy going for Darktide, Fatshark has shown their commitment to their cooperative games, embodied perfectly by their ongoing support for Vermintide 2. And that commitment is finally showing itself in the form of an impending overhaul for all four classes: Psyker, Veteran, Ogryn, and Zealot.
The lengthy dev blog post goes into excruciating detail on how each available class has been given all-new branching talent trees, enabling players to full customize their playstyle. In its current state, Darktide allows little flexibility in how classes evolve as they level, more or less ensuring that all players of a particular class fall into a similar flow once they achieve level 30.
If you aren’t interested in reading the wall of text from Fatshark, this overview trailer provides a highlight reel of the class revamp.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Patch #13 is set to release on October 4th, the same day the game launches on Xbox Series X|S.
