The Basim-led Assassin’s Creed Mirage is mere days away and Ubisoft wants to ensure that prospective players are properly prepared for the “coming-of-age” tale. Although Mirage is billed as a standalone story, and can certainly be approached without prior series knowledge, the developer has provided context for the pre-Valhalla narrative for those looking to fill in any gaps in their Assassin’s Creed lore.
Taking place in 9th century Baghdad, players are introduced to a much younger Basim than they remember embedded in Eivor’s adventure in Valhalla. That places the newest installment several centuries after Origins established the Hidden Ones, but well before the events that transpired in the inaugural 2007 entry. Between those two, Mirage seems to share much more DNA with the latter, as Ubisoft looks to take the franchise closer to its more contained roots.
