A little over a year ago Microsoft shocked players by announcing a collaboration headset with Bang & Olufsen. The headset, Beoplay Portal, was met with a lot of praise and criticism mostly directed at the $499.99 price. However, if you’ve been eyeing the headset or just want a good deal, popular deal site Woot is offering the headset for just $249.99.

Unfortunately, this deal is limited to the standard black anthracite model, meaning anyone interested in grey mist or the later released navy brass will still be looking at full price. Still, for the most commonly requested model, it’s a pretty good price that will run until the end of the day or their stock runs out, whichever happens first.

For those looking for a bit more information about Beoplay Portal, you can find some of the key features below:

GIVE YOURSELF THE EDGE

Sound that dials you in

From battlegrounds to seascapes, get closer to your game world with an expertly tuned sound signature that puts a firm focus on fidelity. Thumping bass, rich mids and soaring highs mean you never miss the next move. PC? Console? Mobile? Doesn’t matter. Wherever you’re going, Portal is the ultimate partner for your adventure.

VIRTUAL SURROUND SOUND

Eyes front. Ears everywhere.

Portal envelopes you in spine-tingling surround sound, so you’ll always feel like you’re in the heart of the action. Powered by advanced Dolby Atmos technology, and tuned to our signature audio standards, these gaming headphones place sounds precisely in 3D space so you can react fast. Virtual worlds never sounded so real.

VIRTUAL BOOM ARM

The next call? It’s clear.

An innovative virtual boom arm sets Portal apart, amplifying your voice with an array of sensitive microphones. It’s just as powerful as a traditonal boom, except nothing gets in your way. Stay in control with a quick mute option – so that you can always hear and be heard.

CONNECTIVITY TO COUNT ON

Link and load

With a rock-solid 2.4GHz wireless connection, Portal delivers high-quality sound with seriously low latency. Go wired with a USB-C cable or 3.5mm jack, and pair seamlessly with a second device. So no matter what, you stay connected – to music, people, worlds.

PLAY FOR LONGER

Playtime? Always.

Portal for PC and PlayStation promises up to 19 hours of wireless gaming. Switch to Bluetooth and you’ve got 42 hours to play with, even with ANC on. Portal for Xbox gives you up to 12 hours of play using wireless, Bluetooth and ANC. That stretches to 24 hours if you’re just using Bluetooth and ANC.

No pressure

Lightweight. Beautiful. Unmatched. Portal is built for comfort and tuned for immersion. With a breathable bamboo fibre headband and an off-centre pressure point to eliminate irritation, you’ve got the perfect gear for extended play.

Even though this is also an officially licensed Xbox headset, it does work on other platforms including PlayStation and Switch.

XBOX VERSION

Compatible with Xbox Series X and S.

Xbox gamer? This version of Portal connects seamlessly to your console via the Xbox Wireless protocol. With Dolby Atmos technology, you can expect higher audio quality and lower latency than you’d get from other Bluetooth headsets.

PC AND PLAYSTATION VERSION

With added dual mode functionality.

Portal for PC and PlayStation delivers maximum detail, subtlety and nuance in sound quality, with dual mode functionality and USB-C dongle for instant wireless connectivity. PC gamers also benefit from virtual surround sound with Dolby Atmos for Headphones.

BOTH VERSIONS COMPATIBLE WITH MOBILE

Any mobile device – even Nintendo Switch

Spoiled for choice. Use either the Xbox or PC and PlayStation version of Portal to get going on your mobile device via Bluetooth. The PC and PlayStation headset comes with a USB-C dongle for faster connectivity.
