BOOMEROAD is quite the creative game on PC that you can get for free with no strings attached behind it, it is published by the same people involved with Donronko Wanko, another free game that took the market by surprise. These little experiments are very cool since they try to bring gaming into a different direction by providing something new. Thankfully, Doronko Wanko will remain online in the foreseeable future, but many other games will just disappear entirely. BOOMEROAD is one of those unfortunate games that will cease to exist and it might be harder than ever to preserve.
BOOMEROAD getting delisted
In March 31st of 2026, BOOMEROAD will disappear from Steam, the game is free to get if you are interested so it is very weird that its going to disappear. The concept is very interesting and its already what it says in the box, there’s a road that comes back like a boomerang as you traverse it, and the main objective is just exploring this new mobility mechanic. The game is also extremely short, taking at least 20 minutes to fully complete it, which is insane but if you factor in that it is free, then its a fair deal.
I would have wished this game expanded into something else, because the ideas portrayed in it could be used for something bigger. There used to be a time when games were small and self contained, and from this era came a ton of new titles that took advantage of the limitations imposed by time and hardware. Honestly we should return to creative concepts instead of stagnating in a constant evolving race for realistic graphics or other unnecessary features. Hopefully some indie developer decides to take the concept of BOOMEROAD and make something cool out of it, I think its a gold mine of inspiration.
