Despite having a triumphant launch, the player counts in Battlefield 6 have steadily declined over the past months with a large part of the player base leaving the game during it’s first season. And that’s part of the reason why EA and DICE chose to delay the launch of season 2 in Battlefield 6 in order to add more polish into the upcoming contents, while hoping the player count sees a resurgence and comes close to the game’s launch weekend numbers. However, as the season 2 has already started for Battlefield 6 yesterday, there will be no more delays going forward for the game, according to DICE.
In a recent interview with GameReactor, Battlefield 6 producer Phil Girette spoke on the delay before the launch of season 2 and has said that they are currently taking steps to ensure no more hold-up going forward.
“We came out of the launch from Battlefield 6, and we don’t have the best of track records for launches, but it went pretty smooth this time around, so we’re happy for that one. But that launch also takes a lot of work and time. We saw the content we had planned for Season 2 and we wanted just to give that a little bit more time in the oven to polish things and make sure we hit the expectations that players have.
“Obviously, once you plan out seasons, there’s a lot of things that come with that like the marketing work behind it, making sure the timings affect not only the game itself but many, many other things. Future seasons as well. Absolutely, we need to make sure those hit as expected and we have taken quite a lot of different steps in different departments to make sure that the players get the seasons immediately once the season is planned to end.”
The current season 2 in Battlefield 6 will go on through two phases exactly one month apart each with a steady stream of in-game contents ranging from new maps, modes and more.
