Easily the most anticipated videogame of all time, Rockstar’s upcoming GTA 6 continues to mystify players in more ways than one and most recently, regarding whether the open world behemoth will be released on any physical media at all, especially during it’s launch. PPE’s Graczdari, who had previously leaked news regarding several AAA titles and which were later proven to be correct such as Flight Simulator 2024 releasing on the PS5 and more, is now claiming that publisher Take Two may skip a physical launch of GTA 6 when it arrives in order to avoid potential story and gameplay leaks and the game will only launch digitally on consoles at first.
Some of the sources state that a physical edition of GTA 6 could arrive around three to four weeks after launch while other sources claim that we might have to wait for at least 2027 for the physical edition of the next Grand Theft Auto. It seems more information is expected to arrive during this year which is after all, the year of GTA 6, if it actually sticks to the current release window after all.
Also, a digital-only release does make a lot of sense considering Take Two could save a lot on the production costs which can help with getting the price of GTA 6 closer to $70. So from that perspective, a digital release for the upcoming title seems like a win-win for both Rockstar and the players, but of course we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out.
And as GTA 6 is still expected to come out later this year, we may be getting more updates and info on the game such as a long awaited gameplay trailer or another story trailer along with more screenshots in the coming weeks.
GTA 6 is currently slated to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
