Vena is a new strategy roguelike game that recently got revealed on PC, and just from the looks alone I can feel the potential emanating from this new indie game. You can request a playtest if you desire, the ability to do so is provided for Steam but you have to be selected, I want to give it a go and I can’t wait for the demo despite it coming very soon. Roguelikes are one of the best genres due to the infinite possibilities they provide in each playthrough, so when these games are cheap they really become the best money you ever spent when you get them.
Vena is coming
These games tend to be common, but I’ve never seen something like Vena before, so finally a new idea has surfaced that does not just recycle on what already exists. There’s still no release date, neither for the game or for the demo, so we only have to wait and see what will be the fate of this release. Build towers in an isometric hex-tile to farm resources, the center’s demands are ever rising so you need to ensure you can farm enough before its too late and things go wrong. The aesthetic is what attracted me the most but I’m sure the gameplay is what’s gonna keep me trapped.
There’s tons of game modes and challenges at first glance, so maybe the game will launch with tons of things to do in a similar way to Balatro, some people are still trying to complete that one and an update seems to be coming pretty soon for them. Strategy is an interesting genre because you can pretty much do anything with it if you find a good idea you can implement. As always, indie developers, especially solo developers provide some amazing games like Vena to be hyped about.
