Highguard could have had a better release if the developers didn’t make so many controversial choices, this new PC game is a 3v3 affair that is neither a proper hero shooter or even something like Counter Strike nor a Battle Royale. Maps are huge and traveling seems to be the main focus on this game rather than killing players, when something is so massive it feels like there’s tons of padding to it, and when you think the actual combat will feel good it really does not. This game seems to be a combination of terrible ideas and uninspired design.
Highguard flops
While the failure of Highguard on release isn’t as big as Concord’s colossal flop, it will only take some days for people to get bored of it, the game does not really offer anything special when you analyze it. Even the people who are into these kinds of live service games predictably decided to dunk on the game because there’s better things to play on the market such as Overwatch, or even Fortnite. Highguard feels like it didn’t even try, and there should have been better announcements for such an important slot on The Game Awards.
It feels like gaming is reaching a breaking point with the high mass of live service slop that comes our way, so maybe we shouldn’t really interact with any of these games. There’s a clear average when you sift through the meme reviews, the game does not work and it is unbalanced, it also runs terrible on new hardware for some reason. And obviously, this game does not comply with Stop Killing Games, as it does not provide a server hosting option for people who wanna play some matches together, this is a 3 v 3 experience, so it feels rather baffling that they didn’t give us the ability to host Highguard servers.
