2026 looks to be a promising year for Dragon Ball as it’s been revealed that another new title may be announced (as confirmed by the official Dragon Ball Games account) at the Genkida Matsuri event in Japan which will take place on January 25 which is tomorrow. So we’re going to find out what’s in store for Dragon Ball fans in terms of videogames in less than 24 hours from now which is exciting in more ways than one.
The Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri event will be unveiling all the upcoming contents regarding the massively popular franchise in multiple mediums which means we may be getting news regarding any upcoming anime as well. The voice of Son Goku, Masako Nozawa, will also be making an appearance at tomorrow’s event, hinting at the possibility of the announcement of a new anime after Dragon Ball Daima.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero which is the newest title in the franchise is also confirmed to receive yet another DLC as early as this month plus both Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has also received multiple contents related to the Daima anime. At this point it’s definitely a bit tricky to guess what new title might be announced tomorrow but a new Xenoverse game may be a safe bet cause among all of the available Dragon Ball games right now, Xenoverse 2 is the oldest of them all so it’s certainly a possibility that another entry in the RPG series might be at works right now.
All of the Dragon Ball titles available, despite pretty similar in terms of contents, are actually vastly different experiences tailored for gamers of different tastes. The Xenoverse titles are essentially action RPG hybrids based on the Dragon Ball Universe, Kakarot is more of a full fledged RPG while Sparking Zero is an out-and-out action title aimed at a different demographic of players. So there’s Dragon Ball for all, both literally as well as figuratively which is great for all fans of the iconic franchise.
The new game could also be in line with some of the earlier titles like Dragon Ball: Raging Blast or even Budokai, however a mobile release is also expected at this point. A Dragon Ball game like the 2.5D Shin Budokai series would be pretty awesome as there was a certain depth and fun to those combat systems that a lot of the newer titles failed to even come close to.
