Bloodstained Ritual of the Night is an unexpected addition to the Epic Games Store, but finally there’s a huge game in the catalogue that people can own for free. If you still didn’t play this crazy spiritual successor to Castlevania Symphony of the Night, then you should do so right now. Igarashi left Konami because they didn’t allow him to properly do what he wanted with the Castlevania series, and after teaming up with Inti Creates for a bit they did an amazing love letter for fans called Bloodstained Curse of the Moon. Bloodstained Ritual of the Night builds upon that game.
Bloodstained Ritual of the Night is amazing
Bloodstained Ritual of the Night is what every metroidvania fan is seeking, amazing boss design, and a huge map to explore. It also brings with it some amazing features like an in-built randomizer that really lends itself to people playing the game many times in different ways that are never the same. This addition might be inspired on randomizer hacks that add this feature to older games in the Castlevania series, perhaps Igarashi was playing some of those and got inspired. Regardless of theory, you can get this game and more for free on the Epic Games Store.
However one has to remember that Epic Games is a very shady company and you can get your games for free in multiple ways, there’s also an ongoing sale for Bloodstained Ritual of the Night on Steam for 75%, making it a better choice if you opt to support the developer behind this piece of art. If you still want to hold on before buying this 6 year old game, you can just add it to your wishlist and wait, but getting it for free is quite the tempting deal for many, one more game to the ever expanding backlog.
