Grand Pro Circuit just got an amazing trailer to showcase some very cool action that feels straight of a PS2 game. It is clear that the brand names are mere parodies of what exists in real life because the developer team can realistically get the licenses for them, but who needs them really? Physics seem immaculate in this new PC racer, and there’s finally some realism when it comes to your car breaking apart by making it race. The spoiler can fly off, and it seems that even the engine can burst, of course this game is based in F1 races from the 80s and even the 90s, when security wasn’t at the forefront.
Grand Pro Circuit looks amazing
While it might look retro, this is intentional as it keeps the idea of a racing simulator based in the past, not to mention that this is being done by indie developers too. While it has been demonstrated that indie developers can get more stylized than this, graphics are merely just a window to understand the game rather than the game itself, if they like PS2 graphics they should be free to do them. It is clear that this game draws from many, especially the Gran Turismo series, it is crazy that we never got a retro F1 mode in that series, but we don’t need it because we will have Grand Pro Circuit.
There’s still not much information when it comes to a release date, but we can assume that this will be dropping in 2026, and if things don’t go too well perhaps it will come in early 2027. There has been some turmoil on the industry as of now, so its better to focus developing the things you like rather than trying to please anyone, the job of the indie developer is one that requires lots of passion, and Grand Pro Circuit seems to have passion behind.
