Developer Sucker Punch’s latest action adventure AAA blockbuster Ghost of Yotei, which came out earlier this month, has sold over 1.6 million units so far, with it’s total sales even higher at 2 million copies when accounting “sell-in to retailers”. The sales report comes from Alinea Analytics, who also estimates that Ghost of Yotei has generated over $100 million in terms of total revenue so far which is highly impressive given it’s been less than two weeks since the game actually came out.
And while those numbers are sure to rise even higher in the coming days and weeks, compared to it’s predecessor Ghost of Tshushima, it’s sales are a “little bit slower” as the 2020 action title had managed to sell two million copies in it’s first three days.
Besides the overall sales numbers, Alinea has also provided further insights based on player engagement in Ghost of Yotei which shows around 30% of it’s total player base have spent more than 20 hours in the game so far. Also, around 93% of total players in Ghost of Yotei have played Ghost of Tshushima which is kind of obvious as both game features a lot of similar elements in both it’s story and gameplay.
According to Alinea Analytics, digital sales constitute 77% of the overall sales of Ghost of Yotei with the action title already surpassing other recent titles of the year such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Astro Bot when taking their individual launch windows into account.
Ghost of Yotei came out 2nd October and has received highly favorable reviews since it’s release with both it’s combat mechanics and engrossing narrative getting the most praises. In terms of gameplay, story and open world exploration, the game is considered a definite improvement and a natural evolution over it’s predecessor Ghost of Tshushima.
