The much-anticipated early access for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 open beta has faced major technical problems, preventing many players from joining. Shortly after the beta launched on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, numerous reports emerged. Players who received access codes through promotional offers, like the Twitch rewards from the recent COD Next event, encountered error messages when trying to start the game. This immediate setback has created a negative impression of the beta’s launch.
The main complaint involved a persistent error message stating that players could not access content, even though they had entered a valid early access code. This issue was first widely reported among PC users using the Battle.net launcher. The community quickly shared a temporary workaround that required changing the client’s region settings to Asia. Although the publisher claimed the Battle.net problem was quickly fixed, reports soon indicated that the issue lingered across multiple platforms. Console players, in particular, noted that the game kept asking for a pre-order purchase even after they successfully redeemed an early access key.
This recent wave of access issues adds to an already troubled start for the beta. In the week leading up to the launch, many players expressed frustration over the slow and delayed distribution of early access codes tied to watching the annual Call of Duty showcase. Those who linked their accounts and met the viewing requirements reported long waits to receive their codes. This situation has created a sense of impatience, intensified by the current inability to launch the game, despite having the required credentials.
Despite these initial challenges, the beta is set to remain active until October 8th, giving fans a chance to experience a limited portion of the new multiplayer content, which includes six maps and six modes with an early access level cap of 20. However, the ongoing instability prevents many from fully participating and obtaining the limited-time cosmetic rewards related to the beta. This troubled launch indicates that developer Treyarch and publisher Activision need to address urgent stability issues as they strive to ensure a smoother transition to the full open beta later this week.
