The upcoming and highly anticipated Battlefield 6 is set to make some key changes to it’s Assault class before it releases so if you’ve played the open beta using this class, you can expect quite a bit of different experience in the final game.
In a recent interview with Gamerant, Battlefield 6 creative director Thomas Andersson has confirmed that the Assault class will undergo some fine tuning: “Assault players should expect reduced efficiency in some areas but will become stronger in teamplay. We are moving the deploy beacon to Assault instead of Recon to reinforce that this is the guy to spawn on. They will be the ones going behind enemy lines and setting up.”
It seems the changes are made to help make Battlefield 6 much more teamplay-oriented and prohibit any single class to become powerful enough to feel like they can take on a lot of foes all by themselves. And it looks like we have to wait till the game releases to find out how well the changes work out in context of the overall balance between existing classes and how it affects the flow of the gameplay.
Also, in another interview with Kotaku, Battlefield 6 developer Matthew Nickerson spoke about the much controversial Flick Look setting which allows players with a controller to do instant 180s during combat. The dev explained that the feature was added solely to balance out the experience for console players, to help even the playing field between controller users and players who are on the Mouse and Keyboard. Overall it sure seems like a welcome addition that ensures competitive play in crossplay sessions, making the matches much more engaging for all users irrespective of their choice of platforms.
In other news of Battlefield 6, EA will reportedly reveal more news on the single player campaign of the upcoming first person shooter during the 2025 Tokyo Game Show.
Battlefield 6 is slated to be released on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and the PC platform.
