Mortal Sin is a new game that just hit version 1.0, which nowadays means get out from early access. PC gamers are accustomed to the fact that this is normal in the PC world, they play games that aren’t finished yet and can give developers an opinion on how to fix them up in case they need fixing. Thankfully, the things that had to be done to fix and finish Mortal Sin were quite obvious to the developers, so they planned things themselves and took some feedback from players. Now this game is ready to be another indie success story of 2025.
Mortal Sin is finally finished
Reaching version 1.0 means that the game is pretty much a final product, of course more changes can happen to bug fix and maybe add some new content, but massive changes rarely happen in these kinds of games. Back in the day this was the norm, players got cartridges on release day that got the version 1.0 of the game, and sometimes another batch had version 1.1 to fix some minor bugs. It feels like back in the day they did their best to code everything right and have something that works unlike today’s triple A industry.
Mortal Sin feels like some sort of DOOM game, but it also has its own identity as it tries to go for a more melee focused approach. The graphics are the biggest highlight of the game because the art style really resonates with what is trying to tell us. A dark and grim world overrun by demons that we have to slay and chop into bits, tons of fun to be had by slaying all of these foul creatures. Heretic and Hexen come to mind when you someone mentions “melee focused DOOM”, but Mortal Sin might be taking that spot soon enough.
