As the early access launch of the open beta for Battlefield 6 saw massive player counts and huge queues, developer DICE has announced that they’re currently working on a drastic increase in total server capacity for the upcoming first person shooter.
“The team is now working on a substantial increase in server capacity, which will reduce your time in the queue,” DICE said. “Thank you for your continued patience as we work to get as many of you into the game as soon as possible.
“We’re looking forward to seeing you experience Battlefield 6, and we appreciate your patience!”
Battlefield 6 open beta has already engaged over 300,000 concurrent players on Steam alone, making EA’s newest entry in the flagship shooter series the third most-played game on Valve’s platform which is a massively impressive feat. But only a fraction of that number are actual player counts as most gamers are currently on huge queues with the game’s servers hitting max capacity quickly. And that’s why DICE has issued an official statement ensuring they are working to increase capacity of the servers substantially.
DICE has also explained why they were using queues in the first place with the open beta of Battlefield 6:
“Since this is Battlefield’s biggest Open Beta ever, we’re putting in the work to ensure that players have the best possible experience and servers remain stable. To support this, we will use queues to protect the player experience but expect this impact to be minimal,” DICE said.
“You may encounter this during high peak moments, such as the start of servers going live. The team is working constantly to reduce any queue that takes place.”
As the open beta is now on it’s early access period, the player count is expected to grow drastically once it goes live for all players throughout this weekend, which will greatly benefit from the increased server capacity that the devs are working on right now.
Battlefield 6 is slated to be released on October 10.
