Nvidia’s surprising act of kindness gives us PhysX in 2025

Nvidia has decided that PhysX, along with FlowGPU, should be open sourced. These news are amazing for those who are PC users in general, an epic win dare I say. It is known that older 32 bit games, or games that used engine bugs to be coded, do not work well on newer hardware at all. Thankfully, with the release of PhysX as an open source project, people can get working into implementing solutions to this problem. You could say this is an act of kindness, but when you analyze it, you realize they are basically telling us to fix old games ourselves. We at Infinite Start will cover this surprising reveal.

Nvidia gets a win

Whatever the message Nvidia might have sent to us, it is important to have such a powerful piece of code at our disposal. People are busy cloning that repository so they can ensure it remains safe from any change of heart the green giant might have. Now, modders are as happy as kids in a candy store, since they now have the power to restore those classics to make them work on newer systems.

People still wish to honor the past that games had, so doing this to be able to play classics is a no brainer. In the age of slop, going back to old games or indie games is often the best choice, and when hardware tries to prevent us from doing so, it becomes messy. People want to have more features in their new hardware, not less.

There has been tons of issues with current hardware. A phenomena known as shrinkflation has started to seep into the hardware market, specifically for gaming. People are actually paying ridiculous prices, to have way less power than even older hardware released back in the day. The funny part of this is that this metric also takes inflation into account, things would be even worse if it didn’t.
