Capcom Hints at New Marvel vs Capcom Game

Capcom, renowned for its legacy in fighting games, has shown interest in reviving the Marvel vs Capcom series. This interest comes after the release of Street Fighter 6, which received an outstanding reception. Capcom’s team, in an interview with Dexerto, confirmed their desire to create something new for the Marvel vs Capcom IP.

The series has not seen a new entry since 2017’s Marvel vs Capcom Infinite failed to meet expectations. However, the producer of the classic collection remains hopeful. Both Capcom and Marvel acknowledge the series’ massive fanbase, with Marvel vs Capcom 3 still being a favorite in the fighting game community. Last year, it was the fourth biggest game by number of entrants at Evo, surpassing titles like Mortal Kombat 11 and Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Shuhei Matsumoto, a producer at Capcom, stated, “The development team has big dreams. Maybe there is an opportunity for a new Marvel vs Capcom game.” Matsumoto admitted that reviving the series would take time, but the studio is focused on what they can achieve now, with the recently announced collection being a significant part of that effort.

Fans of the franchise can remain hopeful as Capcom explores the possibility of another entry, ensuring the studio hasn’t abandoned this beloved series.
