The Ascent – How to Fast Travel

The Ascent revolves around an arcology on Veles, dripping in the bright, vivid lighting synonymous with cyberpunk settings. The multi-tiered structure is home to countless galactic residents spanning several zones of varied social status. Over time, these zones will be explored (and re-explored) throughout the campaign.

Although The Ascent isn’t the most sizable world ever produced, it can still be tedious to backtrack to previous areas at the character’s brisk pace. That’s what makes fast travel a heavily desired feature in RPGs; sometimes we’re more interested in the destination than the journey, especially if that journey requires retreading the same ground for the nth time.

Neon Giant empowers players to cross vast distances quickly with a fast travel system. And we’re going to show you how to utilize it.

How to Fast Travel in The Ascent

There are two forms of fast travel in The Ascent: train stations and taxis. Both options are unlocked early on in the game, meaning you will be able to bypass backtracking relatively quickly.

To access a train station, look out for the red “M” icon on your map or mini-map. You can enter some stations directly, immediately populating the Interlink screen which enables the selection of the desired destination. However, other Train Station locations may require waiting for the next train to arrive, at which point you can board. Don’t take too long, though, as it will depart and you will be stuck waiting for the next one. It isn’t a lengthy wait, however.

Taxis, on the other hand, can be summoned on-demand. As long as the player is not in an enclosed space, a cab can be hailed by clicking left on the D-pad. The ability to use the taxi service unlocks during the mission Trading Places after meeting nogHead. After this story point, the taxi can be used to return to previous areas.

Keep in mind that the taxi costs 1,000 uCreds, whereas the train is a free ride. The fast travel method may be dependent on the character’s digital wallet.
