Xbox keeps dying, which is crazy, but this is all part of a grand strategy that will save gaming according to them. The only thing I see is mass layoffs and a myriad of cancelled projects, but what they see is hope in the future via consolidation and removal. We really don’t have the same strategies really, one has some clever ones, while the other just flails like a dead fish in the pavement, I will let the reader do the math on who am I referring to. Personally, anyone could be leading Xbox better than Asha Sharma, as long as they actually care about games and actively play in console of course.
Xbox is dying
Consolidation might seem like a wonderful idea in paper, and it sort of is, but it has to be done at the right time and what Xbox needed was all of the new games that got cancelled. Consolidating happens when you wanna make big things and have nothing in store, but Xbox had a ton of games in store that people wanted to see, games that people worked for in decades of development even. Alas, companies like this only care about profits and outputting air if it is possible, nothing cool to win from them.
I wish things were working like they used to work 26 years ago, alas, we are very far from that golden era of gaming, filled with wonder and advances. There’s nothing to be hyped about nowadays, unless its coming from the hands of indie developers or small studios that actually care about making things. Hopefully, the coming years become better for gaming, but considering how the industry is going right now with many mounting issues such as AI slop I’m not really sure. The best thing we can do is play our backlog.
