TGS, also known as Tokyo Game Show, is a very important event that showcases some amazing developments in the Japanese side of gaming. Unfortunately, not everything is nice and chill and some would say, CESA did a survey and managed to find that 85% of those they surveyed used AI. Many news sources claim that 85% of companies in TGS used AI but, that is actually not true, what truly happened, as pointed out by a very smart Japanese user, is that the survey is biased. From only a very small sample population of all the companies that were interviewed, 85% of those mentioned to having used AI in game development.
TGS still has a ton of great devs
It is sad that misinformation is travelling the neat so quick, but usually that’s what happens in this current day and age. The TGS is a great place to find games to play, so it is very unfortunate that such a, let’s say, sacred place got slandered by people doing false assumptions. The sample was 220 companies, only 48 of those companies got interviewed despite what the current narrative says. Even with that small sample, only 85% said they use the thing, not even the entire 48 companies do.
It is still crazy how AI is touted to be the future, yet it fails at the most basic things, not to mention that based on many AI bro predictions, we would have been replaced by 2024 and at most 2025. There is no mass replacement, but there was definitely a decent chunk of people who got removed from their job positions due to it. Only for the companies to beg them to come back, a worst case scenario for everyone if you ask me. This reveal also paints a more positive picture about gaming in Japan.
