Nintendo has officially revealed a dedicated Switch 2 Pro Controller to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise and the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. Scheduled for release on October 29, the themed gamepad will hit store shelves ahead of the game’s official debut on November 5.
The new peripheral marks only the third official variant for the Switch 2 Pro Controller platform and the first tied directly to a flagship Nintendo property. Designed with two-tone black and green grips, gold trigger buttons, and a matching gold faceplate bearing the Hylian Crest, the unit incorporates classic design elements alongside subtle retro accents, including a pixelated Link sprite printed on the rear housing.
Announced during a dedicated Zelda Direct showcase, the hardware launch accompanies a broader collection of anniversary merchandise. Alongside the controller, Nintendo confirmed a themed Switch 2 console, a custom carrying case, and upcoming amiibo figures featuring Young Link and Young Zelda. The broadcast also provided updated gameplay footage from the Ocarina of Time remake, highlighting revised mechanics such as dedicated jump controls, dynamic camera management in urban hubs, and microphone integration for musical sequences.
While the Ocarina of Time remake arrives in early November, the controller will be available separately late next month, with select retail packages including an exclusive display stand. The newly announced amiibo functionality will integrate directly with the controller’s built-in NFC reader upon their release in 2027.
