Recent Layoffs at Crytek Affect Staff In Istanbul and Frankfurt

According to Insider Gaming, German developer Crytek, famously known for the legendary Crysis series of first person shooters, has just let go a number off staff in both Istanbul, Türkiye, and at it’s heardquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. Although not officially confirmed by the studio as of yet, it’s been known that a quality assurance (QA) team based in Istanbul was affected in the job cuts and also, the staff that were impacted in the Frankfurt division of Crytek were mostly from the publishing, social media, and QA side of the company.

So if you’re wondering if the next Crysis (or Crysis 4, which the company had been developing) will be affected by these recent batch of layoffs, the answer’s likely a negative. But then, you may want to wait for an official confirmation from the company as to how much the job cuts have impacted their ongoing developments.

Currently, it’s believed that at least 30 people have lost their jobs in both divisions of Crytek and the layoffs had been notified to them at the beginning of this month and were described as “unexpected”.

Crytek had suffered a major layoff in last year which had impacted around 15% of their total workforce, so the new round of job cuts do seem quite a bit troubling, till the company announces otherwise. Of course, the last batch of layoffs had already resulted in a temporary halting of development for Crysis 4, and now with the new one, the game could see an even longer span of production in many ways.

But regardless of the fate of the next Crysis, the original Crysis series of games which had been overhauled (mostly in terms of visually) in the form of the Crysis Remastered trilogy of first person shooters, still offer some of the most immersive and rich (both in terms of gameplay as well as sheer graphical horsepower) experiences you’ll find in the entire shooter genre. So if for some reason you haven’t experienced Crysis yet, you should totally do it now as these games have stood the test of time by providing a level of realism, interactivity along with non-linear gameplay that is still unmatched by most other shooters in the current-gen era.
