The upcoming Wolverine from Insomniac sees a fresh new take on the iconic Marvel character which also comes with new visual design choices for several other characters in the game, and one of them from the recently released Launch trailer had been creating a bit of confusion regarding her identity. A female villain who was showcased in the trailer with a purple-colored energy blade in her hand, looked a bit similar to Psylocke, a member of the X-Men who also wields similar-colored energy constructs (or what they look like) and if you’re well familiar with the character, the villain from the trailer may seem to you as the X-Men character.

The similarity inevitably led to a confusion as Psylocke is not a villain in the comics, so why would she fight against Wolverine in the upcoming game? But thankfully, the devs have removed all doubts whatsoever regarding the identity of the villain via a new post in X/Twitter where they’ve confirmed she’s none other than Deathstrike, one of the sworn enemies of Wolverine, in the same vein as Sabretooth.
Now of course, there are valid reasons for the confusion, as Lady Deathstrike in the comics has claws similar to Logan, albeit even bigger, and doesn’t have a Katana or an Energy Blade as a weapon as she’s shown to have in the trailer. Overall it’s clear that Insomniac has taken multiple creative liberties regarding the cast in the upcoming title, and the ensuing confusion is perhaps an indirect result of that.
Marvel’s Wolverine comes out in two different editions–the Standard version of the game will cost you $69.99 while the Digital Deluxe version sports a price tag of $79.99. There’s no mention of a collector’s edition that’s geared towards enthusiasts so if you were hoping for physical collectibles like statues and maybe action figures, looks like there won’t be any of that.
