Developer Rebel Wolves has issued an official statement outlining temporary workarounds for PC performance issues plaguing the recently launched action RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker. Despite enjoying critical acclaim and strong overall reception since its September 3 release, the title has suffered from technical hiccups that have led to mixed player feedback on Steam.
The most frequent complaints center on frame rate stuttering during active gameplay, particularly when running the game in Windowed or Borderless display modes. To mitigate this, Rebel Wolves advises players to switch their settings to Exclusive Full Screen mode. Additionally, the studio noted that fatal crashes occurring during shader compilation can typically be resolved by updating the motherboard BIOS on affected systems.

Beyond graphics performance, players using controllers on PC have encountered control layout and input issues. Rebel Wolves is working on a permanent patch to enable proper button remapping for PlayStation 5 DualSense gamepads. In the interim, players experiencing bugs with character sprinting are advised to manually adjust their controller sensitivity setting from the default 1.0 down to 0.8.
These technical challenges follow earlier community discussion regarding the game’s core design choices. The Blood of Dawnwalker features a strict 30-day in-game time limit for protagonist Coen to rescue his family from ruling vampires, forcing players to make irreversible choices about which quests to pursue. While some players have turned to unofficial mods to remove the mechanic, Rebel Wolves continues to deploy official hotfixes—including recent updates 1.0.2 and 1.0.3—to address quest progression bugs, dead zone issues, and general stability across all platforms.
