The hotly anticipated first DLC for developer Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert has been unveiled in today’s State of Play event and is confirmed to arrive on October 15 featuring whole new areas, underwater exploration, naval combat (possibly), new city building mechanics and more. The upcoming DLC which is aptly titled ‘Charting the Unknown’, is going to bring a host of new additions in Crimson Desert which will enrich it’s total playability in a myriad of ways.
So if you’re currently enjoying the open world title, the new expansion is simply a must-play, check out the reveal trailer below:
Charting the Unknown will be sold digitally for $25 and is available for pre-order right now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Pre-ordering the DLC will also get you access to two exclusive in-game items: the Charter’s Diving Set for Kliff and Oongka, and the Charter’s Light Diving Set for Damiane.
The story of the upcoming DLC will take place after the completion of the main story in Crimson Desert so players who haven’t finished it yet, should do so in order to prepare for the new expansion which may also feature more challenging enemies suited for higher level, post-endgame builds of the game.
The most exciting aspects of the expansion is definitely the underwater segments and naval gameplay which looks to build upon the already fantastic gameplay experience of Crimson Desert in unexpected ways, and will also result in a far better and diverse range of experiences for the open world RPG.
Crimson Desert had surpassed a total of 6 million sold units worldwide in less than three months of it’s release and with more contents set to release throughout the year including the upcoming DLC, the sales numbers are sure to grow even higher.
Pearl Abyss also recently announced Crimson Desert Enhanced, a new version of the open world title with additional story elements designed to flesh out it’s narrative more than it was possible in the base game, and is available to all players for free. According to the devs, just update Crimson Desert to the newly released version 2.00.00 and you’ll receive the Enhanced Edition of the game which features “new story moments, expanded voice-over & language support, and including all post-launch updates and additions to date.”
