During today’s State of Play showcase, the release date of the upcoming Metro 2039 was revealed coupled with the first console gameplay footage, giving us a taste of what you can expect in the newest entry of the post apocalyptic first person shooter series. The console footage was confirmed to be running at the PS5 Pro at Performance mode with Ray Tracing enabled, which means for the base PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S, you may experience a slightly less visually-arresting experience.
The Metro series of games are some of the most realistic looking titles of their time and although the gameplay footage here looks terrific, the PC version of the game will be a different beast altogether, with a sufficiently beefy hardware configuration, of course.

Alongside the tense combat, the new gameplay trailer also unveiled the release date for Metro 2039 at the end which is February 4, 2027.
First unveiled during Mid-April, Metro 2039 has already secured almost two million Wishlists so far, which clearly suggests that the post apocalyptic first person shooter has managed to spark player interests in all the right ways.
