Star Ocean is a great series of games made by Enix back in the SNES era, of course, now its in the hands of Square Enix. PC players could get them on Steam, but this was quite inconvenient cause you don’t really own the things you buy on Steam. Of course, now that it is on GOG this means that people who buy it there can own it forever, or if they somehow bought it on Steam there’s some very convenient sites to get the GOG version for free to avoid purchasing twice. There is a ton of job to do however, they should be bringing all PC releases to GOG.
Star Ocean is great
And the fact that you can own it means that there is a ton of things you can do with the game, such as modding and even the ability to make physical media out of it. There has been an increase of people trying to make their own physical copies with DVDs or even CDs and boxes, with varying degrees of success. Of course, digital will always remain convenient but we have to understand that if your data gets corrupted or your credentials revoked you can’t really access those things anymore.
As for Star Ocean, it is a great game, definitely inspired a ton by franchises like Star Trek and other sort of Sci-Fi media, its pretty much anime Star Trek. So if you are a fan of space exploration and finding other species in the vast cosmos, I feel like Star Ocean will be an amazing series of games to play. The very first one for SNES has a translation patch made by fans that and it might be the best way to start the franchise if you know nothing about it, try it, its a good time.
