If you’ve enjoyed Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll be glad to know that the action RPG is getting it’s first major DLC expansion this October which will add over 25 hours of additional contents including a new story quest, whole new dungeons and many more. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, producer Naoto Oyama explained that Dragon’s Dogma 2’s upcoming expansion is largely about winning back the trust of fans after the base game’s numerous issues including severe performance problems.
“We are trying our best to win back trust from those players who felt [disappointed] in with the launch of Dragon’s Dogma 2,” the producer stated.
“At the same time, some players are still cautious and they’re saying, ‘well, this performance update in August is going to be the real test of whether the game has got to where we want it to be,” he explained.
Oyama said that the August update for the game is aimed at fixing a lot of the performance and stability issues which will make the upcoming expansion even better, in more ways than one.
“I’m really hopeful that once they see the performance improvements we’ve made in August and what we’re doing to build towards the expansion release that players, hopefully, feel that the base Dragon’s Dogma 2 game is in a good state so that they can jump back into the expansion”.
Oyama also explained that the events of the Dark Arisen expansion takes players to a new snowy region called Norgan and the main quest should take anywhere between 15 to 20 hours to finish and if you want to explore more, it could take significantly more time.
Also, each of the new dungeon in the upcoming expansion will take around 30 to 60 minutes to complete, which, when added to the main quest as a whole, will likely see you spending about 30 hours or more in Dragons Dogma 2: Dark Arisen.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 came out in 2024 and had sold past a total of 4 million units by the time of November 2025.
The Dark Arisen expansion for Dragon’s Dogma 2 is scheduled to launch on October 9, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
