A Pokemon Champions player has showcased a powerful strategy capable of knocking out opposing Mega Pokemon in a single turn using a heavily boosted low-power move. The tactic, shared online by a player named iWill, relies on a carefully sequenced combination of damage multipliers to turn a standard utility attack into a devastating offensive tool.
During a recent match, iWill paired Mega Kangaskhan alongside a supporting Farigiraf against an opposing team featuring Archaludon and Mega Raichu Y. On the opening turn, Farigiraf utilized Helping Hand to grant Mega Kangaskhan a 50% damage boost. Mega Kangaskhan then targeted the opposing Mega Raichu Y with Fake Out. Thanks to the attack power multiplier and a fortunate critical hit, the low-base-power move managed to secure an immediate one-shot knockout against the rival Mega.
The core strength of the strategy lies in how Mega Kangaskhan’s natural attributes interact with standard competitive support moves. Because Mega Kangaskhan is a Normal-type Pokemon, Fake Out benefits from a Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB), which automatically increases its damage by 50%. Furthermore, its unique Parental Bond ability allows the Pokemon’s cub to strike a second time immediately after the initial hit. When combined with an Attack-boosting Adamant nature and the priority protection offered by Farigiraf’s Armor Tail ability—which blocks opposing priority moves—the combination becomes incredibly difficult for fragile teams to disrupt.
Calculations show that even without a critical hit, a fully optimized Mega Kangaskhan utilizing this setup will deal between 79.5% and 94.8% damage to a standard Mega Raichu Y that lacks defensive investment. Dedicated team builders have noted that similar results can be achieved using alternative support options. For instance, Sneasler or Lucario can use the move Coaching to boost an ally’s Attack stat by one stage, providing an identical 50% damage increase that replicates the pressure of the Helping Hand strategy.
