Another new nugget of information has just dropped regarding Rockstar’s upcoming open world behemoth which can be a little bit divisive as according to Brazilian retailer KaBuM!, the sprawling and dense world of Lenonida as well as it’s innumerable NPCs, are all weaved together by an extremely advanced form of AI. Here’s the full description containing the new info from the product page:
“NPCs (game characters) have their own routines based on advanced AI, generating organic random events around the map. The big innovation is in the integration of in-game social networks: your character’s cell phone consumes viral videos in real time, allowing you to follow Vice City influencers and discover secret side missions through the networks.”
So if you were thinking about AI slop in GTA 6, it’s not–the world and it’s inhabitants are run by AI which makes for extremely advanced and organic interactions that are unlike anything we’ve seen from a videogame before but the game itself is not made with AI and there lies the difference. Overall it seems like an exponentially more sophisticated variant of the kind of AI that’s used for governing the behaviors of enemies and other NPCs in games. But hopefully we’ll get some official info on this pretty soon from Rockstar so till then, you may want to take all of this with a grain of salt.
The description of the in-game social media system seems highly interesting too, with the apps seemingly resembling their real life counterparts in more ways than one.
The Standard edition of GTA 6 will cost $80 while the Ultimate edition comes with a price tag of $100 which also includes a whole array of unlockables ranging from bonus story missions to in-game items, equipment and additional customization. And while the prices are certainly steep for a videogame but when you consider the colossal production value of GTA 6, they do start to feel pretty reasonable.
GTA 6 is slated to launch for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19 with pre-orders going on right now.
