The upcoming Gears of War: E-Day is shaping up to be one of the most promising titles for the Xbox Series X|S when it releases in October and if the waiting feels quite difficult for you, you can get your hands on the campaign ahead of it’s official release in this year’s Gamescom as Xbox has confirmed that the hotly anticipated title will be there along with a playable demo. In their official Twitter/X profile, Xbox has stated the following:
“XBOX + @gamescom + FanFest… see you there💚 Be among the first to play what’s next – including the Gears of War: E-Day campaign. Stay tuned for more.”
According to Xbox, the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day will be present at both FanFest 2026 and Gamescom 2026 and the latter is where you’ll be able to experience some parts of the campaign as a playable demo. So if you absolutely can’t wait to play E-Day, the incoming Gamescom which is also the biggest public exhibition of games every year, regularly overseeing over 300,000 attendees, is exactly where you need to be. And if you were previously planning to attend this year’s Gamescom, now you’ve just got another reason which is the playable demo for Gears of War: E-Day.
However, keep in mind that you may have to stand in really long queues for up to several hours which is usually the case for Gamescom over the years, but surely won’t matter for a hardcore Gears fan.
And if you haven’t watched it yet, check out the recent Gears of War: E-Day Tech Demo which showcases all the technical richness that’s been brought into the game by Unreal Engine 5 such as Megalights, Lumen and more, complete with a locked 60 FPS. Looking at the graphical prowess on display, it really seems like Xbox has made the right choice by making Gears of War: E-Day a platform exclusive.
And if you’re on the PC, check out the official system requirements for E-Day here.
Gears of War: E-Day is set to release on October 6, 2026 for the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
