If there’s one game that can rival or even come close to match Rockstar’s GTA 6 for the title of the most awaited videogame of all time, it has to be the Ocarina of Time Remake that is also expected to come out in the later part of this year. First revealed a few days ago during the Nintendo Direct presentation that took place this month, only a short teaser trailer was showcased which raised more questions than answers, regarding the remake’s release window and more details.
Now, a new extended listing on the official Nintendo website has unveiled that the upcoming title will be a fully modernized remake for the Switch 2 complete with a visual overhaul and all the quality-of-life upgrades of the current-gen era of gaming.
“The N64 classic, reborn as a full remake for Nintendo Switch 2. Experience Ocarina of Time with stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay,” reads the new official description.
The description was first spotted by fans with a keen eye who checked the source code of the listing on Nintendo’s official shop, as you can see in detail in this GameXplain video:
However, in a new update on the official description, it’s just been reported by IGN that the earlier summery of the game has been replaced with the following:
“The Nintendo 64 classic returns for a new generation in 2026, reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2!”
The new description suggests a rather different experience than the earlier one which hinted that the upcoming remake will be faithful to the original in terms of core gameplay mechanics rather than something that builds upon the classic. But the new description indicates certain gameplay related changes could be made to leverage the unique interface of the Nintendo Switch 2 which can also lead to changes in several other aspects as well.
However, it’s interesting to see the description getting shortened and offer less insights on the upcoming remake and perhaps we’ll find out why in the near future.
