The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is turning out to be one of the finest examples of what a remake or re-imagined version of a beloved game should be as it not only improves on everything in the original 2014 title but also adds lots of whole new, bonus contents that will delight everyone who had played the base game when it came out more than a decade ago. And in a recent blog post, the devs have outlined many of the new story and gameplay contents that include new Blackbeard missions, new tailing missions, a time skip feature and many more.
“Coming back to the Caribbean gave us some opportunities to address some hanging threads from the original game,” game director Richard Knight said. “In the years since, players have been wondering what happened to Blackbeard and Stede, and we’ve seen Stede featured in a number of very cool movies and shows, so people know even more about his interesting life. We wanted to give both characters a proper send-off and to tie a bow on this Bonnet.”
There will also be officer side missions and Animus Rifts that will help flesh out Edward Kenway’s journey in a more satisfying and memorable way. Plus, many of the assassination missions from the original Black Flag has been expanded in more ways than one, imbuing them with more variety and flair which will boost replayability even more.
“Many Assassination missions have also been expanded with optional objectives and secrets,” says Paul. “We wanted to expand on the lore of the assassination targets without violating the original narrative. For example, in one particular mid-game assassination, you can find a target’s room (with a hidden reward) by eavesdropping on some soldiers.”
The highly anticipated remake of the classic 2013 title also features a heavily reworked combat system since the original would feel terribly out-of-place in the current-day era of gaming in more ways than one. The new combat mechanics feels a whole lot more fluid and seamless while also featuring a more intuitive HUD with two mini-menus in each bottom corner which allows for seamless switching between the different types of weapons and items.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is slated to be released on July 9th.
