While developer Pearl Abyss is currently ironing out many of the issues in Crimson Desert alongside introducing multiple gameplay features destined to make the overall experience even better in more ways than one, the studio has also recently confirmed that it has plans to “broaden the game to the next level” which includes DLCs. Which means if you’re currently enjoying the open world monster of a videogame, rest assured as there will be more from Crimson Desert in the near future.
“New Pipelines and Growth Strategy Crimson Desert will continue to focus on enhancing user satisfaction and driving new sales through continuous updates, while expanding its market presence through platform expansion,” Pearl Abyss stated. “In addition, we are currently exploring various ways to broaden the game to the next level including DLC. We will share the details once the concrete plans are set.”
Pearl Abyss has also shared details on the ongoing revenue of Crimson Desert which has sold a total of 5 million units recently, marking a significant sales milestone. And up to the end of March (which is the week the game came out), Crimson Desert has brought in KRW 266.5 billion (which is around $178.8 million) with sales split between console and PC versions by approximately 50:50.
Also, more than 80% of the game’s total sales have come from North America and Europe, cementing the fact that despite being a Korean-made title, Crimson Desert has been a massive hit in the west.
And finally, the projected revenue of the game for the rest of this year is around KRW 644.1 to 734.8 billion (which is within the range of $432.2 million to $514.4 million) in total. Which means if Crimson Desert continues to perform at the way it’s doing right now which is in all likelihood considering the upcoming patches and updates for the game, the open world title could very well rake in over half a billion dollars by the end of the year which is mighty impressive.
