Alabaster Dawn is a new indie game that is currently sitting at a 15% release discount. A trailer was released announcing that its finally out after 5 years of development. We really need to congratulate the developers behind this one because we needed some fresh ARPGs that aren’t made by some triple A studio that lacks artistic vision. It really feels as if the PC scene was brimming with potential thanks to the creations of independent studios or even solo developers who take a shot at making impressive things to remember. I can’t wait to see this one succeed in the future.
Alabaster Dawn is out
While its not fully complete, Alabaster Dawn is out in early access format, which means it will keep getting updates while taking feedback from the community. There’s tons of things to do, and the game seems to be pretty much complete as the baseline, I will admit that I miss the times when releasing a full game that didn’t get more updates was the way to go since there was no strain over the developers to keep making more for free. Games are hard to develop, balance matters a ton, and while broken games can sometimes be fun most of the time they really aren’t.
Nothing is perfect, and nothing goes on forever either, so I believe that it would be neat to keep some rough edges because that’s the soul of a game itself, its what makes you remember about it as time goes on. Many games from the early days are remembered by many reasons, the clunkiness being one, it really makes those experiences feel more human in a way. One can polish a lot, better systems, and make things more seamless, but if things feel overly smooth it ends up becoming an experience that isn’t that memorable in my opinion. Yet, I believe Alabaster Dawn won’t suffer from this, hopefully.
