The modern day sections in the Assassin’s Creed games are one of the most interesting and nuanced aspects of their narrative, providing shocking insights onto many real world historical backdrops as well as creating an overarching arc that bridges the continuity of the games in unexpected ways. But where the original Assassin’s Creed Black Flag had featured a refreshingly new modern day segment that saw players taking control of an Abstergo employee, the modernized version of the 2013 title won’t feature any of that and will instead focus on the internal struggles of protagonist Edward Kenway in ways that we haven’t seen before.
According to Insider Gaming, one of the devs from the leaked upcoming Ubisoft presentation regarding Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has stated: “Today, the modern day has evolved. For Black Flag Resynced, we have approached it in a way that focuses on Edward’s journey, while still connecting his memories to the Animus. The modern day in Black Flag Resynced will feature new moments that focus on Edward’s internal struggle.”
And while this doesn’t exactly give away much, it’s clear that those of you who’ve played the original Black Flag will be in for a drastically different experience which is welcome.
In other news of the upcoming remake, the Collector’s Edition bonus contents for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced have leaked and it contains the following:
- A big, shiny black-finished Collector’s Edition box.
- A beautiful figurine of Edward Kenway sitting on a treasure chest.
- A notebook featuring in-game lore about Kenway, including his diary entries and thoughts.
- A brooch.
- A map.
Also, several leaks from the incoming trailer have already surfaced online and you can check them all out from here, which mostly showcases the improvements in visuals.
The upcoming Remake will also reportedly contain a significantly overhauled combat system which would be great considering that the gameplay of the original would feel terribly outdated in the current era of gaming.
