If you have played Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2, you already know that a third Spider-Man title from the acclaimed developer is an inevitability, especially with the ‘final chapter’ tease that’s in the after-credits section of the game. So it’s only a matter of time before another Spider-Man game is announced by the studio and it seems that time is actually near as there has been a recent tease from the face model of Peter Parker on Instagram (before it got swiftly deleted) which indicates that the devs are definitely on to something new with Spider-Man.
And although Insomniac is busy with the upcoming Wolverine which is slated to release September 15 this year, the new tease indicates their next title to be none other than Spider-Man 3.
As spotted by Culture Crave, Spider-Man face model Ben Jordon had posted an in-studio motion-capture photo followed by ‘IYKYK’ (If You Know You Know) and a spider emoji which pretty much gives away another working title by the studio. And while it can also be a Miles Morales title but the ending of Spider-Man 2 leaves no room for any spin off at all so the only possibility is Spider-Man 3 which could be the explosive ending to Insomniac’s trilogy of games.
Also, during a ransomware attack in December 2023, developer Insomniac’s extensive plans for what’s in store for Spider-Man was revealed which included multiple spin off releases too, although it’s unclear which of them will end up in the games but they’re sure to satisfy even the most ardent fans of the iconic webslinger.
After the phenomenal success of Marvel’s Spider Man and Spider Man 2, Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game has garnered a ton of anticipation and hype cause just like Spider Man, Wolverine can also be a driver for amazing gameplay which could easily result in a great game, especially in the capable hands of Insomniac. The way Insomniac took Spider-Man and pretty much reinvented him up to the towering standards of current-gen AAA gaming, from both technical and mechanical standpoints, it sure looks like they could pull off the same with Wolverine as well, especially after the first teaser which looks pretty awesome and true to the iconic Marvel character.
