Naughty Dog creative director Shaun Escayg has recently posted an Instagram photo showcasing a canon and a grand view alongside a tease “Research”, which has sent lots of fans and players alike speculating that it may indicate the developer is working on a new Uncharted title. Check out the photo here.
Now it’s true that the photo has a certain Uncharted vibe to it with the great outdoors, lush natural scenery and the overall color palette that’s on display which can easily remind anyone of certain landscapes from Naughty Dog’s iconic action-adventure series. But of course, it could also be for something completely different, given the vague nature of the post.
Many fans who have seen the photo are already pretty sure that it’s from a next Uncharted title and although the photo kind of hints at it, we still have to wait for an official announcement from Naughty Dog who are currently working at Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet which won’t release anytime soon before 2027, at the very least. And if it indeed is Uncharted 5, the possible release window of the game may strech into 2030 which is based on how dishearteningly long it takes for many AAA titles to reach the end of their development stage.
Naughty Dog boss Neil Druckmann had said earlier that Intergalactic will feature the “deepest gameplay” the studio has ever done which makes the upcoming title incredibly ambitious in the best possible way. But since only a sparse amount of release materials are available as of yet, there’s almost nothing to judge Druckmann’s statements on the game right now, however they do indicate that the combat mechanics of Intergalactic will probably have a lot of depth and versatility which would be really great.
Intergalactic has been in development for over four years and features a star studded cast of Tati Gabrielle from the Uncharted movie as protagonist Jordan A. Mun, and Kumail Nanjiani of Marvel’s Eternals as another in-game character called Colin Graves. The game is not expected to release till 2027 at the earliest.
