Tomb Raider is a franchise widely known by gamers all over the world, it even marked a whole generation of gamers by presenting us with quite the kick ass heroine. Unfortunately Crystal Dynamics isn’t doing too well these days, mainly thanks to the layoffs that happened right now, it is devastating to see so many people being forced to leave the gaming industry to lineup the pockets of a few investors and C-Suite. It sucks that creatives don’t have a space to keep defining the medium further, but hopefully they can unite together to make some indie bangers to destroy the triple A industry.
Tomb Raider Studio Layoffs
It makes me so sad to know that the injustice on the gaming industry never ends, and Tomb Raider is now at risk of serious quality issues with Amazon as a publisher of the latest unreleased game. This should be taken as a very important sign that maybe people should just boycott the game instead of actually buying it, after all the series is at its best with the older titles that we all know and love. Sometimes things that overextend for a long period of time tend to fall flat in its face, but I wanted to see Tomb Raider last a bit longer before the eventual downfall.
As always, the gaming industry never ceases to surprise us with bad news in the triple A space, and it feels like we can’t expect anything good coming from them unless its some revival from a niche series like Mega Man or a lightning in a bottle moment from some new IP that happens to be good. I have hope that things will change however, indie pressure is building up, smaller studios are capable of doing way better than the big wigs who are being too complacent. Winds of change blow in the horizon.
