Rockstar is back at it again updating their rules for games like Grand Theft Auto and even games like Red Dead Redemption. This is a huge change because people who are paywalling mods will be getting in big trouble now, a practice that has become common recently for PC users. We have seen some paid mods disappear lately, and considering they infringe upon IP of the companies, I have to reluctantly stand on the side of the companies for these cases. Mods are meant to be free projects made by fans, and there shouldn’t be any sort of financial compensation out of it.
Rockstar sets rules straight
Rockstar seems to be taking a hard stance this time, they don’t like leakers, hackers or basically anyone that can disrupt the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. It is quite insane how much they crack down on people who take shots at trying to leak anything, it is even more crazy that they have even cracked down against their own employees, forcing them into overwork. There has been many cases of Rockstar doing union busting by using spies in the Discord servers of official unions, knowing this, I’m not entirely sure why you would want to buy Grand Theft Auto 6.
Alas, the game will end up being successful, probably, as it is being released close to a very important period of America’s future history, it almost feels as if they were about to do that on purpose. Anyways, regardless of how terrible Rockstar is a company, I can always agree with protecting the IP that belongs to you, and in this case they are in the right. Regardless, paying for mods feels like a very silly thing considering there has been some amazing fan works done entirely for free in various games.
