The Witcher III DLC is a huge thing because it will bring a whole new story to the game that will connect with all entries and expand upon things we will see in The Witcher IV. It is great that we will see some Ciri in action with The Witcher IV, but we need more Gerald lore if you ask me, I wonder what kinds of things Songs of the Past will answer, only for the name we can infer it will be previous things related to the other games. If anything, a project that brings more depth to the world of The Witcher is something appreciated.
The Witcher III DLC will be huge
We are speaking about hours of new content that will be an obligatory thing to enjoy if you already have the game. It is crazy that they are doing this and it makes total sense since we need a stop gap for The Witcher IV to keep cooking. There is a ton of cool games out there but what comes from the hands of CDPR is often pretty cool too, even if they sometimes overpromise and under-deliver. At the very least the writing is solid, and I hope the writing for The Witcher IV and this DLC is good.
There is a big issue in the industry, and we can see that all of this is caused by catering to audiences that don’t exist, along with filling games with microtransactions and always online services. What people want, is something that respects the core of a series, a new entry that follows what’s already established instead of changing it to something that makes no sense. Alas, art under capitalism is constantly under attack, so we can expect some issues to arise in the production of games like this.
