Dokimon Quest is pretty much Pokémon down to the tiniest detail, and this is good for people who just want something that is like Pokémon but isn’t exactly that, and also on PC. The game is free to keep but you have to be very quick to grab it, you only have around a day left to do so before the offer ends. This is happening because the people behind the game are giving it as a way to promote the sequel that is coming soon. All of these games are being made with an engine called Monster Tamer Maker, a derivative of Game Maker.
Dokimon Quest is free
It pretty much is Pokémon, what you see in the thumbnail image of this news article is what you will get, but it also has some very interesting things that are unique to this game. For example, if you don’t want a full color world you can do away with all of it and replace it with a custom retro palette. It is great to see games like this go for free, but I can’t help but feel that Pokémon was more than just an influence and it was pretty much the basis of Dokimon Quest itself.
Considering Game Freak is abandoning Pokémon as we know it, it is great to see something like this existing but they should do some changes to feel original, honor without lifting straight from the source. Sometimes you just like a thing too much, as we can see with many indie developers, but some developers just go out of the way to not be subtle at all for their inspirations. This is just constructive criticism, the developer is hard at work with other projects that promise something a tad more new and I can’t wait to see them.
