Thanks to the Autumn 2026 issue of Dazed Magazine, several tantalizing details on the biggest game of all time which is Rockstar’s upcoming GTA 6, has come out which states that the open world behemoth will have a myriad of RPG mechanics in place that are similar to those found in Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as older titles in the series like GTA: San Andreas. Players will be able to eat, work out and sleep which will affect both protagonist Jason and Lucia visibly and in a highly detailed way such as working out will change their builds and lack of sleep will also negatively effect their physical stats.
There will also be an in-game social media feed alongside character switching similar to GTA 5, letting players experience the game as a couple or split up and operate independently, although it’s not currently known how it’ll work.
The magazine also teased that choices made by the player in GTA 6 will go even deeper than the honor system in Rockstar’s previous title Red Dead Redemption 2.
“We look back at our previous games with a critical eye and see where we want to evolve based on what we didn’t do as well as we would have liked to, either because we didn’t have the time, resources or technological capabilities, or in some cases things we just didn’t do as well or consider as fully as we could have,” said Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North.
“A lot of what we do is very iterative — we adjust a lot of things by feel based on what is working and what isn’t.”
Hopefully, a lot of those gameplay mechanics will be explained in detail via the extended look at GTA 6 that’s scheduled for Netflix today, so if you have a subscription to the streaming platform, you’ll be able to get a first look at some of the new features from the most anticipated videogame of all time when it premiers at 3 PM ET on August 27, and will be available on Rockstar’s own Youtube channel at 9 PM ET on the same day.
GTA 6 is currently slated to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
