Previously, we’ve seen a lot of the newer gameplay elements in action in the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day and now we finally get a proper look at the overall narrative experience of the game, via a new story trailer that just came out at this year’s Gamescom. The trailer shows the early days of the Locust invasion as well as how protagonist Marcus Fenix plus many of the familiar characters from the series got enlisted into the Gears and fought through the alien horde. Check out the story trailer below:
The overall tone of the narrative in Gears of War: E-Day is much darker than many of the earlier titles although there’s lots of tense as well as hopeful moments as humanity makes their first stand against the Locust invasion. In that sense, E-Day seems a bit more emotional than most of the previous entries of the series which is fitting for the first game in the iconic third person shooter franchise.
Gears of War: E-Day also brings lots of new gameplay elements that would make the combat even more engaging and satisfying including a new ‘low ground’ cover that enables players to hide behind lower walls and other debris, plus you can also drop into prone once the upper half of your cover gets shredded by gunfire. Another new addition is the ability to Slide which can be triggered to get a lower approach on the target, and you can also shoot during sliding which opens up exciting new gameplay opportunities in E-Day.
The standard edition of Gears of War: E-Day comes at $69.99 while the premium version costs $99 which also includes the following bonus contents:
- Up to 5-Days Early Access
- Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack
- Five Seasonal Customization Packs, starting with the Emergence Pack at launch (the remaining packs will be available as released)
- 1,000 Iron (premium in-game currency)
Gears of War: E-Day is set to release on October 6, 2026 for PC and Xbox Series S|X.
