GTA Online Casino just got banned in Australia, or at least Rockstar removed it just in case it could be banned and disrupt the sales of the game. This is a great thing because there was already tons of issues with people gambling their hard earned money and obfuscating currencies through it. If we want to have a better gaming experience we need to take matters into our own hands, we need to ensure that gaming has nothing that can cause addiction issues. Gambling being the primary source of addiction in modern days compared to all other things, is pretty much what leads you to a dark path.
GTA Online Casino banned
While not precisely by a ruling coming from Australia, it is clear that this is in preparation with the current measures that the Australian Government is taking to crack down on unsafe online interactions in video games. Personally, they should go after gacha games and the like to ensure they cannot be released in the region, that’s the biggest part of gaming that causes addiction issues and other problems related to mental health. However, I’m just a dude who cannot meddle with affairs like this, but if it was up to me I would regulate into the ground.
The GTA Online Casino was particularly egregious cause nothing really stopped you from using it as a front to bet money and pretty much do casino things. Considering you can buy Shark Credits and the like, you pretty much use those as real money to bet in a casino and if you lose, then well, you lose your money for real, even if it was converted to a fake virtual currency. You already lost your money by even converting it to a fake currency with no return. Thankfully, at least for Australia, the GTA Online Casino is no more.
