Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos is a very important game that released back in 1999 for PS1, trying to hang on the fame of the previous entry, Croc 2 kept things that worked and improved on others. Now after 27 years were are getting a chance to experience it again under the PC platform. This is a great chance for those who still didn’t play Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos, or even the first game, as there is already a PC port for that one that seems to be quite good. One of the main grievances of Croc were the tank controls, but those were fixed in these ports apparently.
Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos coming soon
It will be releasing in GOG too, which means you will be able to finally own a classic without having to rely on buying the disc, or getting it for free somewhere else. This is a very important thing because the concept of ownership is disappearing for the regular people like us, and we have to keep it alive in some way. There is a ton of games out there that aren’t made into physical releases, or that aren’t released on GOG either, but the community cares and preserves them all.
Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos is a classic, even if there was way better games out there to play in the genre it still was a very solid title. It really feels like it defines an era, even if it gets overshadowed by the likes of Banjo Kazooie and Super Mario 64 on the console rival to the PlayStation. Hopefully, with all of these releases we can see some sort of Croc revival happening, it would be interesting to get a third part with modern design ideas in play.
