The Steam Controller demand will not be fulfilled until at least 2027, this is because the controller was so successful (and scalped) that it basically vanished. PC gamers were excited to know that there was finally going to be an official solution by Valve when it came to having a controller on PC, and scalpers took advantage of that. Now, Valve is trying to do everything in their power to produce enough to match the demand but it might not happen as soon as people believe it will. Until then, the PS5 controller is good enough to handle PC games, so maybe check it out.
Steam Controller is out for now
The only way to get your hands on one might be getting them from scalpers, but nobody should be paying them anything for having drained the entire supply in just some hours. People should wait until next year, but at the same time I don’t feel like the controller is really worth it if you already have one that works well for you. The PS5 controller also happens to be very nice if you cannot buy Valve’s solution, as it does play well with a ton of PC games, and you can even force it to work for some others.
The Steam Controller was already a thing before, but this is a better version that even makes the Wilhelm scream once it detects being thrown. It is crazy that this is a thing but tech does advance quite quickly for the stuff that people don’t even imagine. Personally, the controller looks very chunky and overengineered for my taste and I prefer more simple things, so the form factor of the PlayStation controller does feel much better when playing games on PC. It definitely feels like the only good thing Sony can provide nowadays.
