GTA 6 is coming out only on the current-gen consoles this year and a question on pretty much everyone’s mind is how well it’s going to run on both the PS5s and the Xbox Series X|S as it’s simply an impossibility that they can run Rockstar’s open world behemoth at it’s maximum visual fidelity. But it seems regardless of their capabilities, the upcoming GTA 6 is going to run at a silky smooth 60 FPS on both consoles, although you can bet that the resulting visual quality would be a lot more “compromised” as that’s the only way it can be achieved.
According to the Rock and Borys podcast, which had broke the news first on The Witcher 3 getting a new DLC in this year, GTA 6 reportedly features 60 FPS performance modes for both PS5s and Xbox Series X|S. Here’s the auto-dubbed statements by Youtube:
“A source close to Rockstar, but I emphasize that this is a single source, but a very reliable one, it’s very likely, and ultimately, according to the information I’ve received, there will be two graphical modes: 30 and 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series [X].”
However, it seems the Series S console won’t be hitting 60 FPS which is understandable, and is currently only confirmed for a 30 FPS stable experience, although efforts are currently underway for getting it to 60 as according to the podcast: “From what I’ve learned, they’re not 100% sure yet whether 60 FPS will be available at launch.”
Though, nothing has been mentioned in terms of how GTA 6 will run on the more powerful PS5 Pro although it’s anyone’s guess that it’ll be able to do 60 FPS much better with more visual fidelity than both the base PS5 and the Xbox Series X consoles.
GTA 6 was confirmed as PS5 Pro Enhanced a few days ago with possibly implementing PSSR to boost image clarity further.
But with all of that said, GTA 6 sure won’t look the absolute best it can look on either of the PS5s or on the Xbox Series X, and so, players on the PC platform has nothing to worry about as GTA 6 is practically destined to look it’s absolute best, in all aspects, in all kinds of maxed out Ray Traced glory, only on a high-end PC, when it comes out for the platform in the (hopefully) near future.
GTA 6 is currently slated to launch for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
